It’s National Adoption Month, and Sunday November 4 is Orphan Sunday.
This video can prepare your heart to hear God’s care for orphans:
And to touch your heart for those orphans around us and far away, here are several past blog posts from friends to enlighten and encourage.
Jennifer Grant with an excerpt from her book, Love You More: The Divine Surprise of Adopting Our Daughter: “Happy Families All Alike? (Um..Nope)”
“A Little Red Thread that Changes Everything” by Connie Jakob
“The Prayer He Never Answered: Our Adoption Story” by Shari Dragovich
You can read the first chapter of our adoption story: ”I Am Sending Your a Son.”
And you can ask God to give you His heart for the orphan.
What about you? How might you meet the need of an orphan?
Thanks for this input, Judy. The praise and coffee blogspot link doen’t work . . . .
I fixed it. Thanks, Alice.
Hi Judy…your post couldn’t have been better timed. Long story short, I recently became a consultant with the faith based company, “Thirty-One Gifts” and I have been mulling over the idea of doing a fundraiser to help give orphans their own personalized “Cinch Sac” (similar to a backpack). We have a whole variety of patterns that both boys and girls would love (from camoflauge to pink paisley). I can email you a picture. We also have a stuffed bear and matching blanket that I would love to see kids have. The bear has a velcro pouch in the back where the blanket is stored. The blankets can also be personalized with the kids names on them. The cinch sacs are $5 from Nov 27-Dec 31st, with a $31 purchase. I am still working through the details on how to make this work, but would love your input as to whether this would be something foster kids or orphans would like. I would just love for them to have something with their name on it that they can call their own. It may be too late in the game, but I’m going to talk to Northland about maybe having a Orphan Tree with kid’s names hung as ornament and for peole to take one and buy them a cinch sac.
