I’m a slow learner. It seems to take many iterations for me to really “get”—or at least remember—what God says to me.
He speaks through people and circumstances and music, but most often through His Word. My need for repetition means I often go back again and again to the same verses. And every time, God seems to have a special word for me.
Here are a few (there are many more) of my oft-visited Words from God, in no particular order:
Isaiah 60:22: “I am the LORD; in its time I will do this swiftly.”
Isaiah 61:1-3: The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners,to proclaim the year of the LORD’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion—to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the LORD for the display of his splendor.
2 Corinthians 12:9: “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”
Ephesians 2:10: For we are God’s masterpiece, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
Jeremiah 32:40-41: “I will make an everlasting covenant with them: I will never stop doing good to them, and I will inspire them to fear me, so that they will never turn away from me. I will rejoice in doing them good and will assuredly plant them in this land with all my heart and soul.”
Zephaniah 3:17: The LORD your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.
Philippians 1:6: Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
James 1:5: But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him.
Psalm 34:18: The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
I Thessalonians 5:18: In everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
1 Corinthians 2:9: No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him
Ephesians 5:14: ”Wake up, O sleeper, Rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.”
What about you? What words does God keep speaking to you?

What a great list, Judy!…some would be on my own and the others, well, I think I want them to be in my heart too. Isaiah 61 was read at our wedding sort of as prayer over our lives & since it was just a little over a year after my mom died. In this transition that seems to have stripped me bare over and over, I have clung to Psalm 62:8 “Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before him; God is a refuge for us.” and as far as how to live when I have been ‘in-between’ and unsettled, Psalm 37 especially v. 3-5 and also as a promise for the future, Psalm 84:3-5…THANK YOU for these rich blessings from your journey!
Thanks for those good verses, Abby. Be blessed.
